What The Christmas Bet is about
Jaxon Vance is the star forward for the Boston Blizzard—charismatic, unstoppable, and effortlessly charming to everyone except one person: Dr. Maya Lin. Maya is the team’s lead sports physical therapist, entirely unimpressed by Jaxon's boyish swagger and fiercely dedicated to keeping her professional boundaries airtight.
When a minor knee tweak lands Jaxon on Maya’s treatment table right as the holiday season kicks into gear, the locker room banter turns into a high-stakes locker room wager: Jaxon bets his teammates he can get the notoriously guarded physical therapist to genuinely smile and embrace the holiday spirit before the Christmas Eve whistle.
Maya, dealing with past heartbreak and the stress of keeping elite athletes in peak shape, sees Jaxon as a walking distraction. But as late-night rehab sessions turn into shared festive coffees, snowy strolls, and vulnerable admissions, Jaxon realizes Maya’s guarded heart isn't a game to be won—it's a sanctuary he never wants to leave.
When the secret bet comes to light, Jaxon must prove that while the wager started as a game, winning Maya's love is the only goal that ever truly mattered. Perfect for fans of enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and grumpy-meets-sunshine sports romances who adore heartwarming, banter-filled holiday rom-coms with high emotional stakes and festive heat.
